14.04.065 Wild Land Urban Interface Code
A. Uintah County adopts by reference the general provisions of the Utah Wild Land Urban Interface Code, 2006 Edition, published by the International Code Council, as adopted and amended by the state of Utah and printed as a code in book form as the Wild Land Urban Interface Code, excluding all appendices thereto, for the county excepting as modified by subsection D below, and it is made a part of this code as though fully printed in this section.
B. Authority of Uintah Fire Suppression Special Service District Director. The Uintah fire suppression special service district director, or his or her designee, is authorized to administer and enforce this chapter and all ordinances of Uintah County pertaining to designated wild land urban interface areas. The Uintah fire suppression special service district director, or his or her designee, shall have the power to render interpretations of this code and to adopt and enforce rules and supplemental regulations to clarify the application of its provisions. Such interpretations, rules and regulations shall be in conformance with the intent and purpose of that code.
C. Applicable Area. The Wild Land Urban Interface Code of Uintah County is applicable in all unincorporated, private land designated wild land urban interface areas in Uintah County, which area shall be depicted in a map entitled “Wild Land Urban Interface Area” which is adopted hereto and made a part hereof . All other areas of Uintah County are exempt from the requirements of the Wild Land Urban Interface Code.
D. Revised Sections. The following sections are revised as indicated.
- Section 101, “General” shall include an additional paragraph, to wit; subsection 101.6, “Conflicts” which shall include the following language:
Where conflicts between this Code and the International Fire Code exist the International Fire Code shall apply.
- Section 404, “Water Supply” shall include an additional paragraph, to wit; subsection 404.11 “No Available water supply”, which shall include the following language:
In areas where there is no available water supply, fire sprinklers, as approved by the code official, may be considered as an alternative. As a minimum fire sprinklers shall be required in the primary structure, any attached type “U” structures, and in all exterior eaves, porches, patios, roof extensions etc. in excess of two feet, measured horizontally from the exterior wall.
- Section 602, “Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems” shall omit the word “Deleted” and shall include the following paragraph, to wit:
All structures deemed to be high hazard or extreme hazard may be reduced by one hazard level when fire sprinklers are installed as approved by the code official. As a minimum fire sprinklers shall be required in the primary structure, any attached type “U” structures, and in all exterior eaves, porches, patios, roof extensions etc.
E. Place Where Filed. Three copies of the Wild Land Urban Interface Code shall be filed for use and examination by the public in the administrative offices of the Uintah fire suppression special service district and a copy for information purpose shall be available in the Uintah County planning and zoning office.
F. Repealer. This ordinance repeals all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith.
