Burning Requirements

Yard Cleanup

Spring and fall cleanup is for the purpose of open burning of clippings, brushes, plants and pruning from trees incident to property clean-up activities, including residential cleanup. No trash, rubbish, tires, or oil are included in the material to be burned, used to start fires, or used to keep fires burning.

Agricultural

Agriculture burning is for the purpose of clearing land designated for agriculture use. This may include slash piles of fallen trees bushes and plant stubble, burning of ditches for irrigation purposes, and clearing of fence lines. No trash, rubbish, tires, or oil are included in the material to be burned, used to start fires, or used to keep fires burning.

Burn Instructions

Fill out burn permit if applicable. Refuse piles larger than 4’x5’ and 3’ in height need to be inspected by the Fire Chief or Fire Warden prior to burning
Check air clearing index, must be greater than 500’ (Uintah County will be in Air Shed 9)

Refuse should be away from buildings and structures that may catch fire
Refuse should be out in the open and not under trees that may catch fire
Burn away from power lines and other utility service lines
Refuse should not be in a dry grass or vegetation that can catch and spread fire
Have a water supply or means of extinguishment on hand at ALL times during the burn
Maintain and attend the burn at ALL times. Do not leave for any reason. If you must leave, extinguish the burn until you can return and complete the job
Burn only during light or no wind conditions

You are responsible for any costs incurred if a response team has to come to your property to put out a fire that has not been reported or has gotten out of control, so please follow all previous instructions and have a safe burn.
